Credit Counselling Society's BBB Rating

On June 1, 2012 the Better Business Bureau changed the Credit Counselling Society's accreditation status from "Accredited Business" to "Accredited Charity." The Credit Counselling Society was first accredited as an "Accredited Business" on October 18, 1996 and maintained an A+ rating (the highest rating possible) for over 15 years until the new category of "Accredited Charity" became available.

While the BBB doesn't assign a letter rating to an "Accredited Charity," their accreditation of charities is more rigorous in that a charity must meet 20 standards of accountability rather than just 16 that are required of businesses. However, we believe that requiring a higher standard of us is more appropriate because we are a registered charity, and as a registered non-profit, people expect us to operate at a higher level of accountability and transparency than a regular business.
